Child's ProAir
How the Child's ProAir works
The air jacket is inflated by canister of C02, stored on the front of the jacket. When the child separates from the saddle, the canister is activated by the release of a lanyard that is clipped from the jacket onto an attachment on the saddle. The air bags will inflate within one tenth of a second — roughly equivalent to the blink of an eye.
The ProAir will hold the child tight for 15-20 seconds and then slowly deflate over two to three minutes. While the jacket is inflated, the rider will continue to have full movement of their waist, arms and legs, and partial movement of their head.

Areas of protection
The ProAir vest has been proved to work in three ways; to distribute pressure, absorb shock and support the spinal column in the event of a fall. When inflated, the airbag system offers the collar of the neck and trunk more support, thus reducing the risk of over bending the spinal column
Should it be worn with or without a body protector?
The safest way to wear the ProAir is in conjunction with a conventional body protector, however some riders choose to wear the air vest alone while hacking or riding at home.
Pony Club rules stipulate that when an air vest is used, it must be worn on top of a conventional body protector. Other affiliated competition — for example British Eventing horse trials — stipulate that a BETA-approved Level 3 body protector must be used.
The Point Two Child's ProAir is fully reusable, and requires servicing annually or after every six falls.
All jackets come ready to use with bungee lanyard, saddle attachment and two canisters, one in the jacket and a spare. Every jacket is sold with a spare canister to give riders the opportunity to experience a test inflation of their new garment. It is highly recommended riders take advantage of this, so they know how the system works and how the jacket feels prior to a real accident.
